Letters are posted anonymously, if you do fill out the email field it will only be used by myself to let you know the post was published. Without a official court order I will not release any identifying information. On that note, I can not help it if you submit a letter that is easily identifiable to you. I do reserve the right to change names or other identifing information about someone in the letter, to protect ALL parties. For example, you write a letter to “John Smith” telling him how much you hate him, I may choose to delete the last name to protect you both.
Cursing and harsh language is permitted, whatever you say goes. With the exception of threats of violence or death. Pure “Hate” letters about a race, gender, creed, sexual orientation etc. Feel free to say what you want but if I deem it too ‘hateful’ to the point of possibly getting myself or the site investigated I will have to deny it. It would take a lot of hate for that to happen, but I have to say it just in case.
Letters can be about any subject, dark, happy, sad, you name it. Writing a letter to a ex can be so freeing, as is writing a letter to a crush, yourself, parents, friends, anyone. You can write a happy letter about how much you love the (internet, pets, person, family, culture, etc.), or a letter to a person or place that hurt you. Letters to companies are always fun, being able to say what you wanted to say to them but didn’t have the nerve to is a amazing feeling.
There is no minimum or maximum word count, write as little or as much as you need.
The (optional) ability to upload a image is for you to be able to pick your own post thumbnail, as seen on every post on the site. This will be sized down to about 100×100 so a large image with lots of detail would not look very good. You can use any image as long as you have the rights to use it, a great source is Every Stock Photo and Free Range Stock for images that you are allowed to use.
Posts will first be sent to me to approve and edit then will be posted on the site. If you decide to post regularly you should register for a user account, this will allow posts you submit to be published right away (after one approved post).
When you submit a letter it then becomes property of “Letters to Breathe” and give the right to edit for spelling, grammar, format, etc. You also give us the right to republish the letter on the site as well as future publications.
When you submit your letter I would greatly appreciate it if you followed a few of these tips, not required but it will make my job much easier.
